SPSS data analysis with output you can actually explain
SPSS will happily produce a result for the wrong test. We choose the analysis your design requires, run it, annotate every table, and hand back the syntax so the whole thing can be rerun or checked by anyone.
- Cleaned, correctly coded dataset
- Annotated SPSS output
- Syntax file you can rerun
- APA tables ready to use
SPSS data analysis involves selecting the statistical test your research design requires, checking its assumptions, running it in SPSS, and interpreting the output. Done properly it also produces a reusable syntax file, so the analysis can be reproduced, checked by a supervisor or reviewer, and corrected without starting again.
What is included
What you get with spss data analysis
Syntax, not just clicks
Point-and-click analysis cannot be reproduced or audited. You get a .sps syntax file, so the result can be regenerated exactly.
Correct test selection
Matched to your variables, design and distribution — with the reasoning written down rather than assumed.
Assumption testing
Run and reported, with the appropriate non-parametric alternative used where an assumption fails.
Annotated output
Each table labelled with what it shows and which question it answers, so you are not reading raw SPSS blocks.
Report-ready tables
APA or house style, built from the output rather than retyped by hand.
Explanation included
A walkthrough of what the numbers mean, and answers to follow-up questions after delivery.
Who it is for
Two kinds of client, one standard of work
- A dataset in SPSS that needs analysing properly
- Output you have run but cannot interpret
- A supervisor questioning your test choice
- Tables that need to meet APA requirements
- Survey and questionnaire data already held in SPSS
- Legacy SPSS work that needs checking or rerunning
- A one-off analysis without hiring an analyst
- Syntax so your own team can repeat the work
The process
What happens to your SPSS file
Most files arrive needing work before any test can be run. The sequence below is what a job actually consists of, and it is why a quote follows a look at the data rather than preceding it.
Structure and variable checks
Variable types, measurement levels and value labels corrected. SPSS will happily run a mean on a nominal variable coded 1 to 4; it just will not mean anything.
Recoding and scoring
Reverse items handled, scales scored, categories collapsed where cell counts are too small to support a test.
Assumption testing
Normality, homogeneity of variance, linearity and multicollinearity, run and reported rather than assumed.
The analysis itself
The test your design requires, with the reasoning recorded — including what was considered and rejected.
Syntax written out
Every step saved as a .sps file, so the analysis can be rerun, checked or amended without starting again.
Output annotated
Each table labelled with what it shows and which research question it answers.
Common issues
Problems we are sent most often
| What arrives | What it means | What we do |
|---|---|---|
| Missing values coded as 99 or blank inconsistently | SPSS treats them as real numbers and every statistic is wrong | Define missing values properly, then diagnose the pattern before treating it |
| Likert items entered as text | No test will run at all | Recode to numeric with value labels retained |
| A scale where half the items run in reverse | Totals and Cronbach’s alpha are meaningless | Reverse-score, then re-check reliability |
| Wide format where the analysis needs long | Repeated measures cannot be modelled | Restructure, keeping the original file intact |
| Groups with three or four people in them | Chi-square and ANOVA become unreliable | Collapse categories, or use an exact test, and say so in the write-up |
| Output run, but nobody knows which test was used | Nothing can be reported or defended | Rebuild the analysis in syntax so it is reproducible |
Nearly every dataset needs some of the above. It is normal, it is quoted up front, and it is far cheaper to fix before the analysis than after a supervisor has queried the results.
Practicalities
Turnaround, price and changes
Quotes go out within one working day and name the price, the deliverables and the deadline. The price does not change unless you change the scope.
How it works
Three steps, entirely in writing
Send what you have
Attach the data, or just describe the project. No account, no mandatory call, and a five-field form rather than a fifteen-field one.
Approve a fixed quote
Usually within one working day, naming the statistician assigned, the deliverables and the deadline.
Receive the work
Output, syntax and a plain-English explanation — with follow-up questions answered at no extra cost.
Client feedback
What clients say about this work
“Fast, accurate SPSS analysis with well-presented output tables. My supervisor was impressed with the quality.”
“They helped me choose the right statistical tests and explained the SPSS output in simple language. Highly recommended.”
Proof
This work, on real projects
Clients are not named and no identifying detail is published, so what is described is the statistical problem — which is the part that shows whether a consultancy knows what it is doing.
Exploratory Factor Analysis and Ordinal Regression on a National Survey
Reducing 75 overlapping questionnaire items to interpretable factors, then modelling an ordinal outcome correctly.

Common questions
Answers before you ask
Do I need an SPSS licence?
No. We run the analysis on our own licence and send you the output and syntax. You only need SPSS if you want to rerun it yourself.
Can you work with my existing SPSS file?
Yes — send the .sav file. If it needs cleaning or recoding first, that is quoted as part of the work rather than added later.
Can you use R or Stata instead?
Yes. We work in R, Stata, Python, Mplus, AMOS and SmartPLS as well. Tell us what your department or team requires.
Will you explain which test you chose and why?
Always. The reasoning is written into the deliverable, because that is the part you will be asked about.
What if my data is messy?
Common, and not a problem. Cleaning is quoted up front so there are no surprises once we open the file.
